God Is Making A Way
Where There Seemed To Be No Way

Maputsoe is a border town in northern Lesotho. It is a typical rural
border post complete with small open air markets, dirty, congested
streets, donkey-pulled carts, and free range animals everywhere. When we
first arrived in Lesotho, we attended the only Baptist church in Maputsoe
where we were greeted by the pastor who happened to be blind. The pastor
suffered a stroke which limited his ability to continue to lead the church
so we began to lead Bible studies and help encourage the church in various
ways. While stateside we learned that Pastor Lebusa died of complications
from the stroke and without confident leadership the members scattered to
other churches. They were like sheep without a shepherd.

The goal of the International
Mission Board in Lesotho is to establish a church planting movement among
Baptist churches in Lesotho. This is a movement whereby church
members are actively involved in witnessing, home Bible studies
and church planting. The Basotho Team, IMB missionaries and local
church leaders, seek to serve these pastors and their churches through
Leadership
Training in these church growth principles as well as equipping lay
leaders to this task. |

How beautiful on the
mountains are the feet of those who bring good news,
who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation,
who say to Zion, "Your God reigns!"
