For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them. Ephesians 2:10

God Is Making A Way Where There Seemed To Be No Way

Maputsoe is a border town in northern Lesotho. It is a typical rural border post complete with small open air markets, dirty, congested streets, donkey-pulled carts, and free range animals everywhere. When we first arrived in Lesotho, we attended the only Baptist church in Maputsoe where we were greeted by the pastor who happened to be blind. The pastor suffered a stroke which limited his ability to continue to lead the church so we began to lead Bible studies and help encourage the church in various ways. While stateside we learned that Pastor Lebusa died of complications from the stroke and without confident leadership the members scattered to other churches. They were like sheep without a shepherd. A year before going stateside, God led us to start a house church in Maputsoe with Ntate Roboroko (blue checked jacket) and assisted him and the new church with evangelism and discipleship training. The house church held its own while we were gone. Since our return, a former leader from the Baptist church, Ntate Mokhehle, (dark jacket) has joined the Bible study and leadership training. With encouragement and renewed confidence, Mokhehle has now returned to the Baptist church and some of the members are returning to worship there. The sheep have found a new shepherd. Ntate Roboroko and Ntate Mokhehle are working together to reach Basotho for Christ in the border town of Maputsoe.

Pray for these two men to stand boldly for Christ.

Tanki Maoela is a Gift from God Interpreting Bible study and church discipleship class

Language learning is never ending and when it comes to teaching, preaching, and conducting leadership training, our Sesotho is just not adequate. However, for the past three years, the ministry has been supported and advanced through the willingness of a young interpreter named Tanki. Tanki is a high school junior who has made himself available whenever possible to help us with translation. He expects nothing in return for his help and has grown in his faith by leaps and bounds. He is training with Cindi to become the first national True Love Waits presenter and has a passion for the youth of Lesotho.

Pray for Tanki to be salt and light among his own people.

Prayer requests:

Praise for good health and safety.

Praise for new opportunities to teach True Love Waits and encourage youth.

Praise for the start of a new leadership training and discipleship class in one of the local churches.

Pray for True Love Waits teaching to continue and accountability groups to be formed.

Pray for commitment of church members to a new discipleship class starting Sept. 12 in one of the local churches.

Pray for Tom as he continues to encourage unity among leaders of existing Baptist churches with the common goal of reaching Basotho for Christ.

Pray for Eli and Cindi as they begin another year of homeschooling and Zachary as he attends Liberty.

Pray for early spring rains to help with drought conditions that presently exist due to lack of winter snow.
