(2 Timothy 2:2) The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.  (NAS95)

  “First Baptist”   Motsekuoa

One of the goals of the Basotho team of the Lowlands is to:

Extend the spread of the gospel among the Basotho living in the Lowlands of Lesotho through effective evangelism, discipleship/training of leaders and church planting leading toward increasing numbers of church planting movements.

Since October 2007, the Melvins have been ministering to a group of Basotho who are new believers and desire to establish themselves as a Baptist church.  For the first time as a church, they recently observed Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.   We are equipping and training the group so that they will be able to train others.

   Please pray:

Ř      We have a clear direction from the Holy Spirit in leading and equipping these new believers.

Ř      That God will send a pastor and that the teaching/training will bring a great harvest.

Ř      For Ironbridge Baptist Church from Richmond, Virginia who will be ministering to the village of Motsekuoa and the surrounding villages on June 22 thru July 3, 2008.

Walking to the river…                                     This looks like a nice spot…is it deep enough?

Our son, Eli Philip Melvin waited to be baptized in Africa.

Chief Motlatsi of the village of Motsekuoa is now a trained leader and will baptize Basotho new believers.

Meme, the sister of our high school interpreter, Tanki, was also baptized.

The church celebrate’s with it’s first Lord’s Supper.

Bottle caps made nice reproducible communion cups.
